Welcome, Villagers and Creatures to the ‘Monster Hunters’ Team!
Registration includes catering for the whole weekend, which covers Friday Lunch to Monday Breakfast. The fee is solely for catering!
You can register on our ‘Monster Hunters’ Staff Registration Page.
Information & Communication
We have a dedicated Facebook Group for Adult Volunteers and Supporters for Hoadley Hide. This is open to anyone who is interested in supporting Hoadley Hide. It is not open to any Venturer Scout or Guide 14-17 given we will be sharing information that could give an unfair advantage to participants.
Make sure you like our Instagram and Facebook pages to keep up to date with all things Hoadley Hide.
If you have an idea for a post or would like to enquire about running a stunt, send an email to email@example.com or message our socials.
We are operating a number of different Activity sites (stunts) across the weekend along with the Venturer Overnight Camp (VOC) for the Venturers. We are also providing catering for the weekend for all of our Staff – there will be a fee required during registration, which goes entirely towards the catering.
We need your help to deliver the event, run the Town Activity Sites and other supporting activities for Hoadley Hide 2022 – Monster Hunters.
Hoadley Hide 2022: Monster Hunters, will be held at Mataranka Scout Camp.
We will be camping on site at Mataranka Scout Camp, with the Activity Sites running on both Saturday and Sunday within the State Forest to the south of the campsite.
Mataranka is a fairly basic Scout Camp with limited facilities, but a great open site for camping and operating our Venturer Overnight Camp (VOC) and Base of Operations (BOO) for the weekend. The site will have facilities for all participants and staff throughout the weekend.
“Monster Hunters” Roles
When you sign up, you will be asked for the role you’d like to undertake. For some roles there will be a space to provide some additional information or notes as to why you’d be suited for the role. Provide a bit of a summary of good ideas or items you’d bring to this role and how it will add to this exciting new event.
Villagers and Monster Staff Members
Formerly known as a Stunt Team Member, our Staff Members running stunts are responsible for ensuring our trainee Monster Hunters (the Venturers/Ranger Guides) are adequately tested and prepared.
You will be assigned to an activity site (stunt) with a Team Leader who is responsible for planning and delivering the Activity. Your role is to undertake the assigned task in the site– it may be sign-in, leading the teams through the training exercises, or other tasks as required.
Village Location Team Leader
Your role as Team Leader (Stunt Coordinator) is to lead your stunt team in the building of a well themed stunt as well as overseeing the handling of venturers completing your activity.
You will be able to select the activity area you wish to run.
Stunt Synopsises will be made available soon.
M.O.N.S.T.E.R Guild Support Team
Running a Guild involves a lot of work! If you would like to assist the Village Support Team there are jobs available at the Base of Operations and in the forest.
There are roles that involve assisting with waste management, site services, water supply, firewood collection and various other tasks.
M.O.N.S.T.E.R Guild Base of Operations (B.O.O)
Working directly for the Guild Leader, this role is for those who would like to help during our induction of new hunting parties on the Friday morning of the Hide. Your role will be to help check off equipment, preparation, and induction documentation of our incoming hunters.
There will also be a small number of staff required to assist the Guild Leader with monitoring the hunter’s KPI’s (scoring) and other administration tasks throughout the weekend. This will be by appointment of the Guild Leader, but if you would be interested in this, please note it on your application.
Making it real!
Every Adult Supporter at Hoadley Hide 2022 will be issued two Hoadley Hide: Monster Hunters event badges. We are aiming to have these available before the event and they will be issued to the Team Leaders. We’d like you to sew one of the Monster Hunters badges on your Scout uniform to help promote Hoadley Hide 2022.
“Monster Hunters” will be set in a Medieval Village, so your clothing/costumes should be appropriate to this.
The more authentic and immersive your stunt is, including costumes, equipment, decorations, etc., the more the Venturers will enjoy it!
The Team Leaders will be provided electronic versions of the generic Hoadley Hide Logo and “Monster Hunters” logo for use in their Activity Sites too, along with a colour guide to help link your stunts back to the primary theme of Monster Hunters!
Key Changes from Previous Hoadley Hide Events before 2017
Due to increasing regulatory requirements, we are unable to camp or stay in the forest. This year the Hide will continue to run with a dedicated overnight camp for Rovers & Staff. This is located in an area well away from the Venturer Camp but we may be sharing toilet/bathroom facilities.
To increase participation and interaction between our adult volunteers, we no longer require an entire crew to commit to operating stunts. The idea being that if you are unable to create a team to run a stunt, that you can still attend and work with other volunteers to operate a stunt.
In order to deliver an event with an overarching storyline that has some level of continuity we will be assigning the activities on each stunt. We will need your help with resources and equipment to run the stunt such as equipment available from your local Scout Group(s) or your crew den. Specialist equipment required for any stunts will be arranged by the Hide Management Team, but we may need some help with pickups and logistics.
